Swerve Strickland, the new AEW World Title champion, who won at the Dynasty 2024 PPV event, went up against Kyle Fletcher in a subsequent Dynamite match. A certain faction of the audience was critical of this move, suggesting an introductory promo segment on Dynamite would have been more appropriate.
Instead, Swerve took part in a promotional segment in the week’s episode of Collision, which got a significant boost due to NBA lead-ins.
Invited to share his thoughts on a recent installment of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Strickland conveyed he might have chosen different actions following his title success. However, his primary commitment is to the continuous betterment of the weekly show.
His comment was quite vivid, “Naturally, I may have chosen a different route. That’s the dynamism of the present moment, and the challenge of preparing for the next show and the ensuing week. It’s all about relentless growth. We mature, and inevitably new opportunities surface. In my view, this reign as champion is perpetually on an upward trajectory. Each subsequent week will outshine the previous one. The improvement is relentless. Honestly, I prefer this constant surge upwards than any descent.”
