In a recent airing of the “83 Weeks” podcast, Eric Bischoff deliberated over MJF’s dramatic return to AEW during Double or Nothing 2024, sharing his thoughts on what could have been done differently. He stated,

“Desire is created by conditioning viewers into the belief that a pay-per-view experience gives you a lot more than what you’d previously anticipated. For this reason, bringing MJF back during a pay-per-view was a rational move. [However] I wouldn’t have selected the pay-per-view as the platform to reignite the narrative [with Adam Cole]. It would have been more effective on a TV show.”

“The audience should be engrossed in the storyline, rather than just watch MJF walk out, handle his business, and deliver a powerful promo during a pay-per-view. So, I would certainly have structured it for a TV appearance. I would’ve facilitated MJF’s return and then built up the story gradually on television. It’s not essential or efficient to cram everything into one night… It’s a missed opportunity and doesn’t leverage the storyline or the talent to their fullest potential.”

MJF made a striking appearance at the event roughly half a year following his last showing at AEW Worlds End 2023 where he was double-crossed by Cole.

As part of his grand return during Double or Nothing 2024, MJF announced his long-term commitment to the AEW, further cementing this assertion by revealing a tattoo.

MJF is set to make an appearance on the upcoming episode of AEW Dynamite, making it his first appearance in 2024. This will provide him with the platform to delve deeper into his feud with his previous tag team partner.
