Effy Says Matt Cardona In ROH Is A Positive Development, Serena Deeb Set For RevPro

There has been recent disagreement between Effy and AEW, leading to the dismissal of Ricky Starks from GCW events due to comments made by Effy.

Effy, in a recent conversation on “The Ringer” podcast, expressed his thoughts on the expected appearance of Matt Cardona, a GCW regular, on the upcoming episode of ROH TV, which he considers may be a good move.

Cardona is due to go head-to-head with Chris Jericho for the ROH World Title at ROH Final Battle 2024, to be held on December 20.

Effy stated, Is it a direct challenge or a step in the right direction? If anyone is to act as a main force, I can assure you it’s not me. Cardona has a strong rapport with those in WWE, his spouse works there after all. He is also well connected with the folks in AEW. In the final analysis, as a professional wrestler, Cardona perceives the opportunities presented to him and capitalizes on them. Yes, he might be playing at their Hammerstein show, and it’s likely he’ll be performing at our Hammerstein event too. His moves suggest there’s a middle ground everyone seems to be missing. Sometimes it’s possible that he’s just doing his own thing, but collaborating with an individual like Jericho, despite my disagreements with him, the man knows how to create hype. He knows how to seize the moments when the tide is turning. Ultimately, the goal for me as a wrestler, and hopefully for all of us, is to capture interest, stimulate conversations, and engage people. Wrestling has always been about the intrigue of what’s real and what’s not. What is going to be part of the script and what is unexpected that we’ll have to go with. I’m excited for it, it stirred me up. I’ve reached out to Matt Cardona, and declared he’s the funniest man ever. I’ve learnt so much from his approach to this profession and I can see some of my own shortcomings in being too straightforward and emotional. The ‘Effy’ persona, in my view, should always be in character when on stage. Whenever people see me outside of that, as I’ve often joked, I’m too laid-back to pretend. Observing Cardona, with his ever-present public persona, makes me think that I should probably aim to be more like him. I can’t distance myself from my past statements or from the happenings around me.

In another development, RevPro has confirmed that Serena Deeb of AEW is set to compete with Kanji at Uprising 2024, slated for December 21 at York Hall. Deeb is making her comeback into the ring following her loss to Britt Baker on Dynamite in October.
