Appearing on the latest episode of WWE After the Bell, WWE Champion Drew McIntyre spoke with Corey Graves about adapting to the circumstances of a global pandemic without getting used to them. After winning his title inside an empty Performance Center, Drew told Graves that he vowed to do his best to draw people into watching. In that way, he’s been able to find himself in the ring in ways that he wasn’t in the standard WWE of pre-March.
Drew mentioned why he quoted Tiger King on one episode, saying it was a suggestion from his wife, who is not a wrestling fan. Drew also says that Apollo Crews and Sonya Deville are right behind him in terms of finding their own way forward in these tough times. He says that their characters will fully bloom when crowds are back, although he didn’t at the time know about the WWE Thunderdome concept, so he didn’t say if that would help or hurt these talents. We’ll have to see on this week’s SmackDown.
