NXT World Champion Ilja Dragunov still holds the gold after retaining against Trick Williams in the main event of WWE NXT: Vengeance Day 2024.
Dragunov was busted open and bleeding from the mouth early into the match but was able to fight through it to put Williams away.
Their match had originally been scheduled for NXT: New Year’s Evil but was postponed due to an injury suffered by Williams.
Carmelo Hayes officially ended his friendship with Trick Williams at WWE NXT: Vengeance Day in a shocking heel turn to close out the event. Williams had teamed with Melo in the Dusty Classics finals hours earlier.
After the match, Melo turned on Williams, attacking his leg and leveling his former friend out with a steel chair.
Melo sat on the chair and smiled to chants of “F*** You Melo!” from the crowd, before being forced to the back by WWE NXT officials.
