Doc Gallows Says Straight Edge Society Is A Closed Chapter, Jokes He Might Come Back As Festus

Doc Gallows is more than happy to leave the Straight Edge Society in the past.

“The Big LG” is currently thriving as one-half of the IMPACT World Tag Team Champions alongside Karl Anderson. But once upon a time, the man once known as Luke Gallows played the powerhouse in the WWE stable where shaved heads were a prerequisite for CM Punk’s disciples.

During an IMPACT Press Pass Live media call ahead of Bound For Glory, Gallows was asked if he felt any pull back toward his SES days when he sees his stablemates, Punk and Serena Deeb, succeeding in AEW. “The Big LG” responded by saying that the past is the past; he, Punk and Deeb are all doing their own thing now. That being said, Gallows stated that he’s proud of Deeb for her recent success. He then focused on the present and emphasized the solidity of the Good Brothers’ brand.

“I really don’t because I feel like that chapter of the book is kinda closed for everybody,” said Gallows. “That’s a piece of WWE history that’s over a decade old now. I think people have a fond remembrance of the group, and I’ve always said I thought the group could [have] gone further. But I think Serena is well-established in her career as a singles performer on the women’s side in a big way. I’m really happy and proud for her.

“You see the star power that CM Punk has accrued on his own, and we got our own niche too. I mean, Machine Gun and I are undoubtedly one of the best tag teams in the entire world, and the Good Brothers, we’re a brand now, man. It’s not just an act that can break up and come back and do all that kind of stuff. We’re branded, we’re business partners, we’re best buddies, so I think it’s probably better to leave that in the past and let it be. If it was a fond memory for you, great. If not, it’s already done with, so don’t worry about it.”

When Anderson chimed in by joking that “you never know” what might happen, Gallows quipped that he could even come back as the Festus character.

“I might come back as Festus, I don’t know,” said Gallows.

It’s safe to say Gallows is content to focus on today rather than look back at some of the missteps from yesterday.
