CM Punk & Seth Rollins On NBC Sports Chicago Telethon Tonight
In the greater Chicagoland area tonight on the cable channel NBC Sports Chicago, an all-star parade of sports superstars will be featured on “Be Chicago: Together We Can,” a four-hour fundraiser to benefit the Chicago Community COVID-19 Response Fund. The special will feature two wrestling names that have in the last year traded barbs with one another on social media, former WWE Champion CM Punk and current RAW headliner Seth Rollins.
In November while in Chicago to promote WWE’s four-night Survivor Series residency, Rollins boldly called out Punk to face him in a mega-match at WrestleMania in an exclusive sit-down interview with WrestleZone and 101WKQX radio. The match obviously has yet to materialize. You can watch those comments in this video:
Now whether or not the two adversarial figures will be on-screen together at the same time is unknown. How do you think pro wrestling fans would react to that online? No matter what happens, it’s great to see so many people coming together in all walks of life to fight the impact of Coronavirus.
Punk and Rollins have both professed their love of Windy City sports teams, with Punk professing his dedication to the Chicago Cubs in MLB and Rollins has long been a vocal supporter of the ‘Monsters of the Midway’, the Chicago Bears of the NFL.
Horace Grant of the ’90s Chicago Bulls, Jermaine Dye of the 2005 World Seris Champion White Sox, Brian Urlacher of the Bears, NBA legend Isaiah Thomas, and more athletes with local ties will appear on the program.
According to media reporter Robert Feder, the event will also include Fall Out Boy lead vocalist/guitarist Patrick Stump, pro wrestler Seth Rollins, comedian Pat McGann, former Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville and former Bears Kyle Long, Israel Idonije, and more.
NBC Sports Chicago will replayed at 11 p.m CST. Wednesday and at 6 a.m. CST and 9 p.m. CST on Thursday.
