It’s essential to recognize that much of WWE’s viewer base now mainly comes from Peacock and the WWE Network, particularly from international fans. The standard pay-per-view purchase method is steadily becoming less prevalent and is mainly used by customers in remote areas or those without access to the internet.
An interesting point to consider is that the WWE Backlash event in France was scheduled for the mid-day time slot, which typically garners lower viewership numbers than prime-time shows. When compared to the last event that was scheduled at this time – the Elimination Chamber 2024, the pay-per-view purchases for Backlash dropped by approximately 33.8%.
In addition, it was reported that 12.3% of those who purchased pay-per-view access to Backlash: France also bought access to AEW Dynasty 2024, while a mere 1.6% also purchased TNA Rebellion 2024.
