Bully Ray: The Story Between Becky Lynch And Asuka Works Because It’s Real

As the potential feud between Becky Lynch and Asuka grows, it’s only a matter of time before the two superstars clash. Speaking during today’s episode of SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray said that the storyline between both superstars is working because it feels incredibly real.
“I like this story because it is real. When the promo was over, it reminded me of a certain character from a certain movie, and it was really obvious to me,” he said. “ It reminded me of Apollo Creed in Rocky II. Apollo needed to know if he could truly beat Rocky. Rocky went the distance with him, but Apollo couldn’t sleep at night, Apollo couldn’t read fan mail because everywhere Apollo turned, he was reminded that a nobody like Rocky went the distance with him.”
Bully Ray went on to say that he’s not trying to implying that Asuka is a nobody, but that the situations are similar. “What I’m implying is, Asuka lives rent-free in Becky’s head, just like Rocky Balboa lives rent-free in Apollo Creed’s head, and that’s the vibe I got and that’s why I loved it.”
