Becky Lynch’s new memoir ‘The Man’ is expected to be a gripping read, but her first draft left a lot to be desired according to the WWE star.

On a recent edition of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Lynch recalled writing the book and feeling it was finished before she handed it off to an editor. She said,

“I hadn’t actually read [the manuscript], I’d just kind of written it through until I was like ‘Okay, here’s the end of the book.’ And then [my editor] came back with notes and I was like ‘Oh, I hate this book. Oh, I hate this. I’m rewriting the whole book.’ And so then on my ‘NXT’ run, when I was champion there, I rewrote the whole book on backstage, live events, TV, on red eyes in hotel rooms, like I just rewrote the whole thing and got it to a point where I was really happy with it.”

Lynch added that writing to a deadline motivated her to stay focused on the project and went as far as to call deadlines her “best friend” in writing and wrestling. She said,

“I think with wrestling, we constantly have deadlines. You might not have a match in place, you might not have a promo in place, but you’re gonna go live in a few minutes or a few hours, and you have to have something. You’re not going to go out to the ring and do nothing. So I like those deadlines, I like working under pressure.”

The Man will hit shelves next week. The memoir is also available on Amazon Kindle and other e-book platforms.

Becky Lynch, the popular WWE star, is set to release her highly anticipated memoir titled ‘The Man’. However, the journey to the final draft of the book was not without its challenges. Lynch recently revealed that her initial draft fell short of her expectations, leading her to rewrite the entire book.

In a recent interview on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Lynch shared her experience of writing the memoir. She admitted that she had not read the manuscript before sending it to an editor, assuming it was complete. However, when she received the editor’s notes, she realized that there was much work to be done. Lynch said, “Oh, I hate this book. Oh, I hate this. I’m rewriting the whole book.”

Determined to create a memoir that truly reflected her story, Lynch embarked on a rewriting journey during her time as champion in NXT. She dedicated countless hours backstage, during live events, and even on red-eye flights in hotel rooms to rewrite the entire book. Her commitment and perseverance paid off as she eventually reached a point where she was genuinely satisfied with the final product.

One might wonder what motivated Lynch to rewrite the entire book rather than simply making minor adjustments. According to her, deadlines played a crucial role in her writing process. In both wrestling and writing, deadlines are a constant presence. Even if there is no match or promo scheduled, wrestlers must be prepared to perform at any moment. This pressure to deliver under tight deadlines has become second nature to Lynch, who referred to deadlines as her “best friend” in both writing and wrestling.

Lynch’s ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadlines has undoubtedly contributed to her success in the WWE. It is this same mindset that pushed her to rewrite her memoir until she was genuinely proud of it. Fans eagerly await the release of ‘The Man’, which is scheduled to hit shelves next week. For those who prefer e-books, the memoir will also be available on Amazon Kindle and other platforms.

In conclusion, Becky Lynch’s upcoming memoir, ‘The Man’, promises to be a captivating read. However, the journey to its completion was not without its challenges. Lynch’s initial draft fell short of her expectations, leading her to rewrite the entire book. Her dedication and ability to work under pressure, honed through her wrestling career, played a significant role in shaping the final product. Fans can look forward to getting their hands on ‘The Man’ and delving into the inspiring story of one of WWE’s most beloved stars.
