Lex Luger was a big fan of seeing Sting’s sons involved in an on-screen angle in AEW earlier this month.
On a recent episode of AEW Dynamite, Sting and Darby Allin were attacked by The Young Bucks after Sting and Allin won the AEW Tag Team Championships.
Speaking on a recent edition of his “Lex Expressed” podcast, the wrestling legend opined on Sting’s kids being involved in the angle, Sting’s recent promo talking about his father passing away, and more.

On the kids being involved in the angle: “My initial feelings are, I was surprised because Sting’s family, especially his boys, have never been involved really. I know the boys have been to a couple of house shows here and there and got a couple of clips on camera, but I was surprised to see them ringside and actually be a part of the angle where they got in the ring. I was very surprised by that. I thought it was pretty neat that they were there. I thought that was really good. I wasn’t shocked at the Young Bucks obviously came in the ring and did what they did. I think they’re just doing good business and setting the matchup the way it needs to be set up. The white suits and the blood, that was an old-school touch right there.”
On Sting’s promo talking about his father passing away: “I knew Lee, his father, who I knew very well, was struggling a little bit but the passing of his dad, wow. The timing of that. He gave a very heartfelt interview about [how] this reminds you of mortality. I thought it was a great interview by Sting in that regard, an emotional one, and I think the match is getting set up the right way.”

On being aware of who El Patron was before WWE: “I knew of him because I grew up watching Lucha Libre and I first started training in Mexican Lucha Libre, so I was very aware of the Dos Caras family. I was doing, I was like, ‘Hey, who’s this Alberto Del Rio guy.’ And he goes, ‘That’s Dos Caras Junior.’ I was like, ‘What? No way.’ So then I kinda clicked, and I fanboyed a little bit so that was kind of cool.”
On their on-screen pairing: “I wasn’t just the ring announcer, there was times I would get with the agent who would put the match together. Let’s say, Alberto or Cena would be doing promos so they don’t have time to put together the match. And then as the match would happen, I’m calling it, so if you ever see me running back and forth? It’s because I’m calling it to them.”

Rodriguez’s involvement allowed him to have a more hands-on role in shaping the matches and ensuring smooth transitions between promos and in-ring action.
