Booker T gave his thoughts on various topics on the latest edition of his “Hall Of Fame” podcast.
During the podcast, the two-time WWE Hall of Famer talked about how he thinks the difference between AEW and WWE comes down to WWE being a sports entertainment company, not a wrestling promotion. He said,
“I really don’t think WWE is gonna start making moves because of AEW’s signings. I just don’t think that’s gonna happen. The reason why I don’t think it’s gonna happen is, that wasn’t the blueprint when WCW started hiring guys. They just help WCW hire everybody out there. They didn’t care. They had those core guys, and they were gonna ride on those core guys, and those guys were good enough to ride on. I think WWE right now, the talent in WWE, I think we got good enough talent to actually ride on and compete against any wrestling company in the world. I could be wrong, but I don’t think WWE is selling wrestling matches. I just don’t. The wrestling matches are the means to an end, the payoff. But I don’t think WWE is truly selling wrestling. WWE is selling entertainment every week, and hopefully will wise up and realize that this is the entertainment business. Of course, wrestling is on the marquee, but the real wrestlers are in the UFC. The real wrestlers are those collegiate guys, NCAA, all that kind of stuff. What we do is performing art, and I really would implore those guys to understand, to make it to that next level, you gotta’ be entertaining.”

In a recent episode of his “Hall of Fame” podcast, Booker T shared his thoughts on various topics, including the differences between All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and WWE. As a two-time WWE Hall of Famer, Booker T provided valuable insights into the industry.
One of the main points Booker T made was that WWE is primarily a sports entertainment company, not just a wrestling promotion. He expressed his belief that WWE won’t make reactionary moves in response to AEW’s signings. Booker T drew a comparison to the time when WCW started hiring wrestlers, stating that WWE didn’t try to match their signings. Instead, they relied on their core group of talented individuals and focused on their strengths.
Booker T also emphasized that WWE has a roster filled with talented individuals who can compete against any wrestling company in the world. However, he acknowledged that WWE isn’t solely focused on selling wrestling matches. Instead, they sell entertainment every week. While wrestling is a significant aspect of their product, it serves as a means to an end and a payoff for the audience. Booker T pointed out that the real wrestlers can be found in organizations like UFC or in collegiate sports such as NCAA.
According to Booker T, what WWE offers is performing art. He encouraged wrestlers to understand that to reach the next level, they need to be entertaining. While wrestling skills are crucial, being able to captivate and entertain the audience is equally important in the entertainment business.
In conclusion, Booker T’s insights shed light on the differences between AEW and WWE. He highlighted WWE’s focus on sports entertainment and the importance of being entertaining in the industry. As a respected figure in professional wrestling, Booker T’s opinions provide valuable perspectives for fans and aspiring wrestlers alike.
