Brian Blair On Giving Back Through The Cauliflower Alley Club, How You Can Join
Brian Blair of the famed Killer Bees in WWE spoke with managing editor Bill Pritchard ahead of ‘80s Wrestling Con 2. Blair talked plenty about the event that featured himself and partner Jim Brunzell on the stage with Ax & Smash of Demolition. The teams were all set to reflect on their historic run together, but Blair’s big passion came through when got to talk about The Cauliflower Alley Club, an organization he’s been president and CEO for over a half a decade.
“I run The Cauliflower Alley Club. We’re getting ready to have our 55th reunion in Vegas between the 27th and 29th of April of 2020. You join the Cauliflower Alley Club for $25 by going to CauliflowerAlleyClub.org. I know that’s not a ‘part of the program’ but it’s part of my life,” Blair said, “and I enjoy helping, giving these wrestlers that have busted their fannies for years and years and all of sudden find themselves inundated with doctors bills because they don’t have health insurance, we’re able to give them some help. That means a lot to me.”
Pritchard asked him to give further details about how fans become members and Blair happily obliged, noting there’s plenty of benefits involved but said most of the membership fee goes towards a benevolent fund. He also explained that the organization is a non-profit and has a staff made up of 100% volunteers, but the events themselves are a lot of fun for attendees.
“It’s really easy. All you have to do is be a nice person. We’ve literally given people their money back and asked them not to return because of mannerisms. We want everybody, our reunions sell out, they have since I have been the president and CEO for the last five years, this will be my sixth year and we’ve got a tremendous lineup.” Blair explained. “It’ll start being announced as a matter of fact next week, a lot of people that we have that awards that are winning and you guys are gonna freak out. All you have to do is go to CauliflowerAlleyClub.org. It’s $25 for a year and you get a beautiful certificate. I have one in my awards room framed and you get four color newsletters that are awesome, members are in there all the time, from members that attend the reunions.”
Blair said just being a member allows you to attend the reunion which he called the greatest party of the year. So far, Rey Mysterio has been announced as the 2020 Lucha Libre award winner for the upcoming ceremony, with more announcements to follow soon.
Blair also shares details as to how people can become a lifetime member as well. You can listen to the entire interview below:
