Jake Roberts, the well-known wrestler and host of “The Snake Pit” podcast, recently reflected on an all-time favorite Georgia Wrestling Championship storyline. He light-heartedly recollected the narrative surrounding the Road Warriors and many others.
In this edition of the podcast, Roberts unraveled some interesting highlights. When discussing his preferred storyline from Georgia Wrestling Championship, the wrestler beamed, “I spent a considerable amount of time with the Road Warriors, forming a narrative with them, Paul Ellering, and King Kong Bundy. The crux of it centered around rumors that Bundy was set to align with the Legion of Doom. Gordon Sully perpetuated this theory. I responded by sending Paul to correct Sully, emphasizing that there was no chance we would let Bundy, in his words, ‘a fat prick’, join us. He did just that, saying ‘we wouldn’t tolerate such a massive blimp on our team. We’re athletes. We maintain our fitness levels.’
Roberts continued, revealing that Paul, mistakenly thinking they had cut to a commercial break, began candidly expressing his distaste for Bundy. However, unbeknownst to him, they were still live. Roberts aimed to create the illusion that Paul was unaware of the ongoing broadcasting, thus making the situation appear more genuine.
In the midst of this misunderstanding, Gordon Sully attempted to subdue the situation, informing Paul they were still on air, but Paul refused to listen. “I eventually directed Bundy to actively intervene, resulting in him tossing Ellering into the ring. Despite Bundy’s efforts, the Road Warriors managed to save Ellering just in time. A simple twist, but a significant one,” chuckled Roberts.
When the question of who he would like as company in a bar fight emerged, Roberts confidently declared, “Haku, Hawk the Road Warrior, and Ronnie Garvin. They comprise a formidable squad.”
