This week, the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) applied for trademarks with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for phrases associated with wrestlers like Jey Uso and Baron Corbin, among others.
WWE lodged several trademarks, on July 3 for “Yeet,” a popular catchphrase of Jey Uso, the “King Corbin” moniker used by Baron Corbin, as well as “The Match Beyond,” and “New Blood Rising”.
Notably, “New Blood Rising” was the name for a pay-per-view event from WCW that was held in 2000. “The Match Beyond” was a subtitle connected to the WarGames wrestling match, which was first introduced in 1987. The name “WarGames” was later reintroduced by WWE for several NXT and main roster pay-per-view events.
