Following her exit from WWE, Ronda Rousey dove into new wrestling arenas, specifically ROH and Wrestling REVOLVER. Here, she formed a partnership with Marina Shafir, challenging the highly skilled duo of Billie Starkz and Athena. Post this match, Rousey has remained rather silent in the wrestling world.
Recently, in a conversation with Monteasy, Shafir shared her reflections on these past matches.
“Honestly, from the outset, I never believed in it. It felt like the opportunity had slipped away. Even so, it will always remain a part of my identity in the world of wrestling, a part that fills me with pride. It’s the sisterhood, what it contained, cherished memories that I get to keep forever. Tagging with her, wrestling side by side, it was never supposed to happen for me, at least that’s what I had thought. Especially considering the way things unfolded later. Out of nowhere, she called me up, ‘What’s up?’ With Ronda I consider myself blessed, as she seldom resorts to excuses. When she’s got a personal mission to pursue, it’s amazing to see her strive for it. I got to be part of that journey. As I said before, I never thought this would turn into reality, but it did, and the buzz still hasn’t faded. I still get excited about all those moments, each and every tiny detail, all the challenges we faced leading up to that one climactic moment, witnessing our unmatched synergy on our debut as a wrestling duo. We were a united entity, without even trying.”
