During this week’s installment of AEW Dynamite, Darby Allin made a surprise comeback to announce his substitution for the injured Eddie Kingston in the Anarchy at the Arena match set for AEW Double or Nothing 2024.
Post-show, Allin took center-stage to share an update on his physical condition and confessed he hadn’t completely recovered. He stated,
“Wow, what an insane past few months. I honestly thought I had faced the worst when I injured my foot. To top it all, I got hit by a bus when I was in New York. Clearly, I am not fighting fit. My gait is still a bit wonky and I’m wearing a nose brace. However, the situation doesn’t deter me, I am adamant about participating in Anarchy in the Arena to uphold AEW’s honor.”
He went on to add,
“As I’ve mentioned, my recovery isn’t complete. Good grief, when [Dax] executed that suplex, I was in a cross-legged seated position, and a damn beam hit me square on the head. I thought I was knocked out, fearing it messed up my comeback. [Chuckles] I won’t keep you here for too long, there’s more exhilarating action awaiting you. Now, I need to possibly rush to the hospital. We’ll catch up later.”
