In a recent episode of “Busted Open Radio”, professional wrestler Matt Cardona shared his thoughts about engaging with fans more meaningfully. He expressed,
“I arrive at these events, carrying what feels like a whole shopping center with me, which I set up for interaction. Yes, one of the reasons is to supplement my earnings but the primary objective is to establish a rapport with the fans. Whether it’s by being super friendly, or embracing your ‘heel’ persona, I believe making a connection is possible. Often times, I find myself as the sole person engaging in such activities prior to shows. And I wonder, ‘What are these guys doing?’ As for them, it might just be about the stunts.”
In his continued conversation, “A multitude of independent wrestlers out there are looking for ways to be noticed. I’m not saying ‘Don’t go for impressive stunts.’ That’s not my point at all. But why not couple these cool moves with fostering connection with the audience and monetizing the event, before the matches.”
