In a recent conversation with the publication NJPW1972.com, Zack Sabre Jr., a renowned professional wrestler, expressed his ambition for a bigger role within NJPW (New Japan Pro-Wrestling). He emphasized his conviction that he is the most qualified person to take on the leadership of the company in the times ahead.
Below, we present some key points from this interview:
When asked about his desire to secure the G1 championship, he explained, “The G1 championship has been an elusive dream in my career. Despite being a two-time winner of the New Japan Cup and delivering consistent performances, I’ve entered the G1 for the eighth time now. Given the recent changes, it’s easy to suggest that I should lead New Japan especially this year. However, I believe the gravity of the G1 holds an even higher significance this year, thus it’s not just an incredible achievement, but more.”
Addressing the topic of leadership at NJPW, Zack stated, “I’m not asserting that it has to be me specifically. We have a team comprising of numerous talent. However, I am confident that I top that list of potential leaders. The pressure doesn’t affect me like it might others. My career spans two decades and surprisingly, I’ve never been injured once. I believe I embody the essence of New Japan’s past, present, and future more than anyone else. Therefore, not reaching this goal this year, or even if I clinch the G1 at a later stage, I’ll still view my career as a disappointment.”
