Zack Sabre Jr. emerged victorious in the NJPW G1 Climax 34.
In a thrilling final encounter earlier today, Sabre overcame Yota Tsuji, securing himself an opportunity at the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. The match ended with Tsuji submitting to Sabre.
Post-match, Sabre ditched the traditional wait until Wrestle Kingdom for the title shot, typically reserved for G1 Climax winners. Instead, he stated his intention to seek the championship at NJPW King of Pro Wrestling on October 14.
In winning the tournament, Sabre became the inaugural British competitor to land the feat and the first wrestler born overseas to win the G1 Climax since Kenny Omega in 2016, tallying as the fourth such star overall.
