The path forward for AEW Fight Forever remains undecided, with the producers at Yuke’s unable to provide clarity on the future direction of the video game.
Launched in 2023, Fight Forever marked AEW’s first venture into the console gaming world. The video game’s reception was rather mixed, earning a 6/10 score from IGN.
In an exclusive conversation with “Video Games Chronicle,” Yuke’s producer Takashi Takezawa was pressed about a possible sequel. His response was,
“That’s really more of a question for AEW. It’s an Omega decision, ultimately; he can probably answer that for you, and depending on what AEW wants to do — nobody knows for sure how Yuke’s involvement will pan out, you know.
“These kinds of relationships evolve and change over time as well. We can say that as a development company, even though what Yuke’s does in the future may be a little unclear, I think the one thing that is very clear is that wrestling is part of our DNA and will continue to be a pillar of the company, so we’ll keep making wrestling content in one form or another. But I certainly can’t talk specifics in terms of this series.”
Reports surfaced in September 2024 that AEW could potentially be in the market for a new developer for the Fight Forever sequel, signaling a possible end to ties with Yuke’s.
Conflicts between Yuke’s and Kenny Omega were rumored, while dissatisfaction was voiced within AEW about the game being “buggy” upon its release.
