Young Bucks On The Backstage Reaction To Sting’s AEW Debut: It Was Really Fun To See Everyone Have A Mark Out Moment
It’s been said that the only thing that’s for sure about Sting is that NOTHING is for sure… but we’re pretty sure the Young Bucks consider his AEW’s debut a big success.
The Young Bucks spoke with the Living The Gimmick podcast after this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite where Sting made his AEW debut. The Young Bucks’ Matt Jackson says Sting’s arrival in AEW is something they’ve been sitting on for quite some time, and he’s thrilled that people are finally in on the big secret.
Matt: “It felt really cool. There was one fun moment, he was hidden all day in his own trailer in the back, and when it was time to go, we have one of our guys from Atlas [security] leading him through the entire commonplace area to the [go position]. As he walks by, he’s just tunnel vision and he was going to just walk straight through to get to where he needed to get to and all of the boys and girls, their heads just started turning like it was The Exorcist. They were just like, ‘WHAT?!?!’ It was really fun to see everyone have a mark out moment like that, and when they did that and I saw the reaction to all of the talent, I knew that it was going to be an even bigger moment on television.
“We had about one thousand people out there yesterday, I knew it was going to be a huge moment. It was chilling, and it was done perfectly because it was so simple. Him just walking out to the ring and the way he did it with the snow, the music. It was so well done and it was so well-received back here. I haven’t even really had a chance to look on the internet but I can only imagine.”
Nick added that they marked out for Tony Schiavone’s ‘It’s STIIIING!’ call, noting that Tony himself said he loved it as well.
