On the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Arn Anderson recently expressed his opinions on Cody Rhodes’ current stint as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. He stated,

“During Cody’s time with AEW, I tried to lead him to slightly recalibrate his approach, explaining that if indeed he wished to race to the title and declare it to the wrestling world and the boys in every green room, he would have to do things out of his comfort zone. I seemed to have his attention. I told Cody if someone punches you in the nose, retaliate with a slap in the face. If they return with a slap, knock them to the ground. If an opponent suddenly has the upper hand, climb on top by any means necessary. – even if it means biting off a thumb that’s been forced into your mouth. I sensed that no one had ever mentored him in this regard. His father and brother certainly didn’t foster such an attitude and his ambition to be a kid’s champion and good role model blocked him from even contemplating such actions. But with the state of the world today, if someone tries to go for your eye, you need to up the ante in aggression. I had him nearly convinced, but he decided to switch companies instead. My sentiment still remains that to stay on top, Cody needs to become more aggressive, brace himself to hurt a few feelings, or even startle someone who’s never witnessed his darker side. That’s what will help him stay in the game as a champion.”
