Xavier Woods is shooting his shot at royalty.
There’s been plenty of talk about the hypothetical revival of the King Of The Ring tournament, an event that was once a staple on the WWE calendar. In recent years, it’s been relegated to a sporadically-held event, running only four times since the final pay-per-view took place in 2006.
The last King Of The Ring tournament took place in 2019, where Baron Corbin took home the crown. The ‘battle for the crown’ has been part of Corbin’s ongoing rivalry with Shinsuke Nakamura on SmackDown, and WWE’s Adam Pearce has even hinted at having discussions for bringing back the tournament in the future. Despite the lack of confirmation, Xavier Woods is still throwing his hat in the mix and says he’s entering the tournament… whenever it’s announced.
Been screaming into the void about #KOTR for years so time to shoot my shot. This works for people with the rumble so I’ll try it…
IM ANNOUNCING MYSELF AS THE FIRST CONTESTANT IN THE HOPEFULLY EVENTUAL KING OF THE RING TOURNAMENT (let’s see if this sticks)
In the past, Woods campaigned to be a host of the G4 revival and he ended up landing a gig with the returning network, so we’ll have to wait and see if his persistence pays off with his latest endeavor.
Shinsuke Nakamura will face off with Baron Corbin for the crown this Friday on WWE SmackDown.
