The Wednesday Night Wars might not be over yet as WWE still has some internal goals involving NXT surpassing AEW’s television numbers.
On a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE officials have set a new goal for the NXT brand, and that is for the weekly NXT show to surpass AEW Dynamite in the 18-34 demographic.
WWE NXT TV numbers have been stronger than usual of late. In the last three weeks, the show drew over 700,000 viewers and a 0.20 rating in the P18-49 key demo.
While NXT didn’t beat AEW Dynamite in the 18-34 demo last week, the WWE show almost beat AEW the week before.
The July 25th edition of WWE NXT averaged 703,000 viewers and a 0.23 rating in the P18-49 key demo. In comparison, the July 26th episode of AEW Dynamite averaged 898,000 viewers and a 0.29 rating in the P18-49 key demo.
