A recently disclosed report revealed the contractual agreement between WWE and San Antonio for the 2023 Royal Rumble pay-per-view event included an exclusivity duration clause.

It emerged that Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics had procured a copy of the contract made between WWE and the city of San Antonio about the use of the Alamodome for the 2023 Royal Rumble event. The contract stipulated a condition prohibiting the venue from hosting any professional wrestling for a duration of 90 days after the event.

In the beginning, WWE had attempted to prevent the release of the contract, lodging a complaint against the Attorney General of Texas. The grounds for the complaint was that such a release could adversely impact the city of San Antonio’s ability to attract similar events in the future. Nevertheless, WWE decided to retract their lawsuit last month.

A portion of the contract clause is shared below:

“Licensor/Lessor shall not lease the facility for use in connection with any professional wrestling performance, exhibition or event that would take place within the period starting ninety days before the date of Licensee’s/Lessee’s Wrestling Event at the facility and ending sixty days after the event (the “Exclusivity Period”).”

In other news, WWE Hall of Fame inductee and Knox County Mayor, Glenn “Kane” Jacobs, is spearheading efforts to collect canned food to help those impacted by Hurricane Helene.

Jacobs has announced his collaboration with Mission of Hope and Knoxville Wholesale Furniture for a drive aimed at collecting canned food and bottled water for individuals in East Tennessee affected by the hurricane. He made an appeal on Twitter,

“I will join forces with Mission of Hope and Knoxville Wholesale Furniture to organize a canned food and bottled water drive to help the East Tennessee flood victims. The drive will be on the coming Saturday, October 5th, from 10am to 4pm, at 7428 Kingston Pike. We hope to see you there.”
