Recently, Angel Garza, a member of the renowned Los Lotharios, underwent a hand surgery.
In a social media post made on Saturday, he revealed that an escalating injury to his hand, which initially happened during a match some time back, finally forced him to go under the knife.
Sharing the news, Garza posted, “Hello everyone! Just here to give a quick update on the situation of my hand. Firstly, I want to extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone who reached out to me with messages asking about my wellbeing, my recovery process and expressing wishes for a swift recovery.
“During a bout a while back, I accidentally fell on my hands, specifically on my palms. I heard a somewhat weird popping sound and felt as if something inside my wrist had burst. Not sure what actually happened; however, as a resilient Mexa, I managed to deal with it. I knew how to tape it up to avoid discomfort while wrestling and working out at the gym. Despite having minor issues with my elbows, which required rehab due to muscular tension, physical therapy took a different turn. The therapists noticed that my wrist pop was preventing the necessary stretch to relax the muscles in my upper elbow. This called for concern and led me to get further tests. The lump on my wrist was diagnosed as a ganglion. The usual treatment is simply draining it. Another alternative involves forcing it back into place by slamming it with a book. However, neither method was feasible due to fragmentation of the ganglion into three separate parts which encircled the principal wrist arteries. Thus, the only remaining solution was surgical removal. While the situation was not emergent, they did state that draining it posed a 70% recurrence risk as opposed to a 5-10% recurrence risk with surgery. Consequently, we opted for surgery. After an approximately hour-long procedure under general anesthesia, the ganglion was successfully removed. Now I face a two-week rehabilitation period sporting a cast, then the doctors will assess how the artery responds. I must abstain from physical activity during this period, except for walking. I’ve been warned to be cautious about sweat infection risks within the cast. I can’t ascertain the size of the surgical wound, however, I know they opened it up to isolate the artery and clean the wound. We’ll have to see how I progress over these two weeks, and, of course, I will keep you all informed. Thank you once again, everyone, for your kind messages. I will continue to keep you updated. Thank you very much!”
The last time Garza appeared was on the WWE SmackDown episode which aired on October 18th.
There has not been any disclosure concerning the length of time he would need to be away from action.
