WWE SmackDown Viewership Up Going Into Payback

Friday Night Smackdown Results

Early ratings for this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown are in, and once again it looks as if viewership is on the rise as the company heads into its Payback pay-per-view.

According to new information from Showbuzz Daily, last night’s SmackDown saw an increase of 0.8%, and averaged 2.186 million viewers. This number makes it the highest watched episode since April 17, and with a major pay-per-view on the horizon, that’s great news for WWE. SmackDown once again topped all network in the 18-34 and 18-49 demographic, but saw a bit of a drop in terms of overall viewership from that range.

This now marks the fourth straight week that SmackDown has seen an increase in viewership, a surprise given that the show was on the decline for some time. August’s average viewership for SmackDown was the highest that WWE has seen since May, and the company will hope to keep that going forward into the fall.
