WWE SmackDown Viewership Rises Following WWE’s Return To MSG
The latest overnight rating numbers are in for WWE Friday Night SmackDown. This week, WWE SmackDown overnight viewership rose as Brock Lesnar returned to officially confront Roman Reigns and WWE return to its home base at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
According to SpoilerTV, WWE SmackDown on September 10, 2021, drew 2.217 million viewers, up from the 2.147 million viewers drawn last week. As far as demographics go, the 18-49 demographics, the show scored a 0.6 rating which saw SmackDown as the highest-rated TV show for Friday night.
This week, SmackDown emanated from Madison Square Garden in New York City. The first time WWE entered their longtime home venue since the global pandemic occurred. In the opening segment, Brock Lesnar made it clear that he was distancing himself from Paul Heyman, attempting to F5 his former advocate before Roman Reigns would save him with a Superman Punch that had little effect on Brock Lesnar who quickly cleared the ring of Jimmy and Jey Uso while sending Roman Reigns away scared.
Also, this week’s episode would see Edge and Seth Rollins in a rematch from their SummerSlam bout. In an immediately critically acclaimed match, Seth Rollins where to get the victory and make sure that Edge would be carted off after the match on a stretcher.
The night would end with Roman Reigns looking to answer the challenge of Brock Lesnar when you would be interrupted by “Demon King” Finn Balor. Roman was already scheduled to face Finn Balor at the WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view, but now, it is official that he will be facing the “Demon King” iteration of the Finn Balor character on Sunday, September 26.
