WWE SmackDown Viewership Peaks At Over Four Million On Christmas Day
Santa brought a huge gift to Stamford this year. The ratings for the holiday edition of Friday Night SmackDown ended up being the second-best performance of the show since its debut on FOX and the best broadcast ratings performance across all WWE programming in 2020. The episode, which featured several title matches, saw an overall average of 3.335 million viewers.
As measured by Showbuzz Daily, SmackDown brought in 4,097,000 viewers in its first hour. This dropped to 2,547,000 in hour two, a number that still trumps both last week’s performance on FS1 and the last episode to air on FOX proper. Overall, the Mavericks and the Lakers on ABC still drew the highest crowd, but SmackDown’s first hour was the most viewed broadcast across the dial on December 25.
An impressive performance for the Friday night show, especially since it was a taped edition that saw its results leaked out earlier in the week. In a year full of bad news in terms of viewership for WWE, they’re ending off 2020 on a high note.
YEAR-TO-DATE RANKINGS
- 3.335 million viewers – December 25 – This Week – 2020 High
- 881,000 – October 23 – 2020 Low (was on FS1)
- 3.335 million – December 25 – This Week
