WWE SmackDown Draws Nearly 3 Million Viewers Following SummerSlam

The latest overnight ratings numbers are in for WWE Friday Night SmackDown. This week, WWE SmackDown rose in viewership as SummerSlam as in the rear-view mirror.According to SpoilerTV, WWE SmackDown on August 27, 2021, averaged 2.87 million viewers on August 27. This number is up from last week’s viewership of 2.237 million viewers. As far as demographics go, the 18-49 demographics, the show scored a 0.65 rating which saw SmackDown as the highest-rated TV show for Friday night.

It should be noted that much like last week, The show was preempted in some markets due to NFL on FOX. 24 FOX affiliates are preseason games as opposed to the regular airing of Friday Night SmackDown.

This week, WWE had 24 hours to deliver the final hype for this year’s SummerSlam, and they would up the stakes for Roman Reigns vs.John Cena by having Roman Reigns say that if John Cena defeats him, he will leave WWE. Also, Edge when back to his roots and delivered a “broodbath” to Seth Rollins.
