WWE SmackDown Draws It’s Lower Viewership Ever On FOX
The latest overnight ratings numbers are in for WWE Friday Night SmackDown. This week, WWE SmackDown dipped in viewership as WWE continued the road to the Money in the Bank pay-per-view and the return to full-time touring in just 2 weeks.
According to SpoilerTV, WWE SmackDown on July 2, 2021, drew 1.741 million viewers, which is down from the 1.859 million viewers drawn last. This is the lowest number of any SmackDown episode to air on FOX. As far as demographics go, the 18-49 demographics, this week’s 0.4 rating saw SmackDown nab second place, falling behind to the Stanley Cup Finals game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Montreal Canadiens.
This week’s episode of SmackDown centered heavily around Edge and his disdain for Roman Reigns and his family. The show would go off the air with Edge beating up Jimmy Uso.
Elsewhere, Zelina Vega would return after several months away because she was released due to a breach of contract. She was inserted into the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match coming up on Sunday, July 18. Also, Kevin Owens would qualify for the Money in the Bank by defeating his former best friend, Sami Zayn.
Last night’s episode also saw Bianca Belair and Bayley agree to meet an I Quit Match at the WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view. This will mark the first time in 13 years that two women will fight for a championship in such a match.
