WWE Reportedly Didn’t Tape Tribute To The Troops This Year
While WWE did a special for United States military, it was just a live event rather than a taped special meant for USA Network.
Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio (subscription required) that last week’s event at the Marines Corps Base Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina, was only meant for the crowd in attendance. Apparently WWE and USA Network didn’t come to an agreement on airing it as a special, as it had been done for 17 straight years.
Matches taped included Humberto Carrillo and Kevin Owens tagging against Andrade & Drew McIntyre, The OC facing Ricochet & The Viking Raiders, The Kabuki Warriors against Natalya & Sarah Logan, and Seth Rollins facing Erick Rowan in a Boot Camp match.
Wrestlezone reached out to WWE for comment yesterday about its status but received no statement from the company.
