WWE PR Representative Criticizes Reporter for Inquiring About Drew Gulak

A reporter who asked about Drew Gulak during the WWE Backlash: France press conference made a very “dumb” decision, according to a WWE PR rep.

During the post-show press conference, a reporter asked about Gulak’s exit from WWE and whether the allegations from Ronda Rousey influenced WWE’s decision.

The reporter cited articles from Fightful and Pwinsider which led to the following response from Triple H. He said,

“First of all, if you’re going to cite news sources, pick good ones. That’s where I would start. Credible, really, maybe. We release talent all the time. The NFL releases 4-500 people a year. We release talent all the time. It’s a part of what we do.

“You can’t just hire people, bring them in, keep hiring more people and just keep bringing them in. So an unfortunate part of the job is talent get released. Can I say that he was released? He was not released, his contract was just not renewed.”

On a recent edition of the “Pollock and Thurston” podcast, Lucas Charpiot, who asked the question, recalled a response from a PR rep. He said,

“One of the PR, as soon as I said my question to Triple H said to me, ‘What a dumb thing to do’… Yeah, right after I asked it, he looked at me and said, ‘What a dumb thing to do.’”

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful was sent a French cheese as a token of apology from Triple H but said the PR representative’s comment was “incredibly disappointing.”
