Pwinsider has provided an update on the ongoing lawsuit by former WWE writer Britney Abrahams against the company, Vince McMahon, and former co-CEO Stephanie McMahon.
In her lawsuit, Abrahams has alleged that WWE discriminated and retaliated against her for speaking out against “racist scripts.”
WWE filed a joint motion on June 21 in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York requesting that the defendants in the lawsuit against WWE, Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, and other executives receive an extension for the deadline to respond to the case.
The motion lists September 5 as the new deadline. WWE had until June 26 to respond to the lawsuit.
The court has reportedly yet to sign off on WWE’s new motion. Because the lawsuit is still in the early stages, it’s not unusual for the defendants to receive more time to respond.
In addition, Abrahams has claimed that WWE fired her for opposing scripts for black talents that had “offensively racist and stereotypical jargon,” and that her complaints were turned down.
Abrahams further alleges that the fact that she took home a commemorative WrestleMania 37 chair is being used by WWE as a cover for the real reason for her firing.
