Cameron Grimes was drafted to WWE SmackDown as part of the 2023 WWE Draft, and he made his main roster debut on the May 12 episode of SmackDown, defeating Baron Corbin in 6 seconds.

Fightful Select reports that while Grimes received his official call-up as part of this year’s Draft, plans had been underway at WWE for “months” to get the NXT star on the main roster.

Select high-ranked WWE executives (including Triple H) reportedly have a high opinion of Grimes’ work and believe he will excel on the main brand.

Grimes had worked a dark match prior to a SmackDown event months before the Draft, and many agents and backstage producers praised his ability to execute various wrestling styles in matches.
