WWE Officially Pulls SummerSlam From Boston Amid Pandemic Concerns

WWE SummerSlam Live Results

WWE issued the following statement to WrestleZone regarding their annual SummerSlam pay-per-view changing venues. The week-long slate of events was originally scheduled to take place at TD Garden in Boston but the coronavirus pandemic has caused them to move to a new venue.

In coordination with our local partners, government officials and TD Garden, WWE’s SummerSlam and related events will no longer take place in Boston. Refunds are available at the original point of purchase. We are grateful to the city of Boston for their longstanding partnership and look forward to holding WWE events at TD Garden in the future.

SummerSlam will stream live on Sunday, August 23 at 7 pm ET on WWE Network and information regarding a new location for the event is forthcoming.

It was previously reported on July 6 by Mike Johnson of PWInsider that SummerSlam would indeed follow suit of WrestleMania and be performed in Orlando at The Performance Center. There could have been a glimmer of hope that the show would still take place in Boston as Mayor Marty Walsh didn’t rule out that events could still go down at Fenway Park and TD Garden, but just without an audience in attendance. This was after he originally stated that Boston would ban any large gatherings up through Labor Day.
