WWE has initiated a new program aiming to assist independent wrestlers and provide them with a direct route to the Sports Entertainment colossus. The official announcement can be viewed below.
WWE made an announcement on October 29, 2024, indicating the initiation of a unique developmental program. The program named WWE ID, which stands for WWE Independent Development™, is projected to provide budding independent wrestlers a route towards pursuing a potential career with WWE.
The Chief Content Officer of WWE, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, said that WWE ID is the latest move from WWE’s side to recognize and facilitate the journey of emerging wrestlers, thereby enhancing the reputation of and solidifying the independent wrestling environment.
Following the successful inauguration of WWE’s NIL program in 2021, WWE ID has been established to aid independent wrestling prospects and wrestling academies with top-tier training, development, and guidance.
WWE will provide the WWE ID official label to leading independent wrestling schools intending to provide newcomers and existing talents at these selected institutions with improved developmental prospects. Few of the first independent wrestling schools to obtain the official label are Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling (Houston), Cody Rhodes’ Nightmare Factory (Atlanta), Seth Rollins’ Black and Brave Academy (Davenport, Iowa), Elite Pro Wrestling Training Center (Concord, N.H.), and KnokX Pro Academy (Los Angeles).
Furthermore, WWE ID will pinpoint top independent wrestling prospects and accord them the WWE ID “prospect” label. It will extend their developmental journey by offering monetary prospects and help with training, guidance, and development. This will include access to top-tier facilities, exceptional ring training, athletic trainers, and more. Fans are also offered a chance to follow these standout prospects’ journey in the independent wrestling scene via curated behind-the-scene content, highlights, and matches exhibited across WWE’s social platforms.
