With the entire WWE NXT brand receiving an overhaul, it’s not surprising that other dominos would eventually fall for the black and gold brand. It’s now been revealed that WWE Japan, which was planned to be a division of NXT, has been dissolved.
While there is little information on the subject at this time, it can’t be seen as a great sign for Triple H‘s plans of an NXT expansion across the globe in the future.
The following is a translation from gamebiz.jp regarding WWE’s exit of Japan:
“It turns out that WWE Japan GK has been dissolved. Yesterday (September 1st), all employees (meaning investors) agreed. It was revealed in the “Public Notice of Dissolution” published in the “Government Bulletin” dated today (September 2nd). It is a Japanese corporation established by the American professional wrestling organization “WWE”. It was running the Japan tournament, but the “WWE Live Japan” scheduled for July 2-4 this year was canceled.”
It is unknown when WWE plans to run another tour in Japan, but the company’s plan to run in the United Kingdom in September is still on course. How that tour is executed will probably determine WWE’s overseas touring for the foreseeable future.
