The individual will play a key role as an Attorney, embedded within all facets of Talent Relations and Talent Development for the globally renowned World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Principal responsibilities will include managing negotiations, crafting contracts, assuming risk management, and developing legal strategies and policies concerning all talent agreements.

Key duties:

The role involves negotiating and composing an array of agreements pertinent to the Talent Relations and Talent Development sectors, such as talent booking contracts, merchandise agreements, talent appearance agreements, tryout agreements, and celebrity appearance agreements. Furthermore, the person will deliver in-house counsel for varied legal issues concerning talent, including sponsorships, production, licensing, live events, and film development, among other things. They’ll also be tasked with reviewing and signing off on talent third party appearance contracts.

Other responsibilities involve building and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external business partners, liaising with talent agency representatives, managers, and lawyers, and staying updated on market and industry trends in entertainment sectors domestically and internationally. The role also includes working in tandem with WWE’s finance teams concerning talent salaries and carrying out day-to-day talent-related tasks in business & legal affairs.

Qualifications:

The candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in legal practice, particularly in negotiating and drafting agreements related to talent in the fields of media, sports, talent agency, television production, and live events. A thorough understanding of television industry agreements, guild and union regulations (i.e., SAG-AFTRA, DGA, WGA, PGA, etc.), contract law, and NIL rights is mandatory.

Experience in a rapid-paced work environment, strong negotiating, drafting, and communication skills, and a meticulous and detail-oriented work approach is required. The person must hold a law degree from a U.S. based law school and be eligible to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction as well as seek admission as in-house counsel in Connecticut.
