As we previously reported here on eWn, Bushiroad has terminated the contract of STARDOM founder Rossy Ogawa, claiming that he “poached many STARDOM wrestlers and staff.”
Ogawa has announced that he plans to start his own promotion, and it’s expected that several talents will leave STARDOM in March.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that WWE contacted STARDOM and Ogawa in December 2023 about establishing a working relationship.
WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque was the person conducting the talks and was one of the few individuals outside of STARDOM to be informed about Ogawa’s departure.
It should be noted that the disputes between Ogawa and Bushiroad transpired before WWE made contact.
While WWE may work with either STARDOM or Ogawa in the future, currently there aren’t any plans in motion. WWE will collaborate with the company that will benefit them, be it STARDOM or Ogawa’s new promotion.
WWE believes that Ogawa has the experience, particularly with developing new talent, however, Bushiroad has the finances and STARDOM offers more brand value.
A working relationship with Bushiroad could also lead to WWE possibly partnering with NJPW in the future.
There were rumors that Ogawa was a mole for WWE, funneling STARDOM talents to the billion-dollar promotion, but this is “far from the case”.
The speculation began due to the poaching accusations, AEW President Tony Khan’s celebratory tweet, and the fact that Kairi Sane signed with WWE, and Giulia is rumored to be heading there as well.
It is to be noted that Sane decided to return to WWE upon learning that Ogawa was leaving.
Giulia, who is loyal to Ogawa, received an offer from WWE. However, she is set to work with Ogawa and help him build his new promotion from the ground up.
In recent news, the wrestling world has been buzzing with the termination of STARDOM founder Rossy Ogawa’s contract by Bushiroad. The company claims that Ogawa has been poaching STARDOM wrestlers and staff, leading to his departure. However, this turn of events has opened up new possibilities for Ogawa and the wrestling industry as a whole.
Ogawa has announced his plans to start his own promotion, which has sparked speculation about the future of STARDOM. It is expected that several talents will leave STARDOM in March to join Ogawa’s new venture. This development has caught the attention of WWE, who reached out to both STARDOM and Ogawa in December 2023 to discuss a potential working relationship.
The talks between WWE and Ogawa were conducted by Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE’s Chief Content Officer. Levesque was one of the few individuals outside of STARDOM who knew about Ogawa’s departure. It is important to note that the disputes between Ogawa and Bushiroad had already taken place before WWE made contact.
While there are currently no concrete plans in motion, WWE is open to collaborating with either STARDOM or Ogawa’s new promotion, depending on which option benefits them the most. WWE recognizes Ogawa’s experience, especially in developing new talent, but also acknowledges that Bushiroad and STARDOM offer financial stability and brand value.
Furthermore, a working relationship with Bushiroad could potentially pave the way for WWE to partner with New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) in the future. This prospect has generated excitement among wrestling fans, as it would bring together two major promotions and create new opportunities for talent exchange and cross-promotion.
Amidst these developments, rumors have circulated that Ogawa was secretly working as a mole for WWE, funneling STARDOM talents to the billion-dollar promotion. However, these speculations have been debunked, as they are “far from the case.” The rumors stemmed from the poaching accusations, a celebratory tweet by AEW President Tony Khan, and the recent signings of Kairi Sane and the rumored signing of Giulia by WWE.
Interestingly, Kairi Sane’s decision to return to WWE was influenced by Ogawa’s departure. On the other hand, Giulia, who is loyal to Ogawa, received an offer from WWE but has chosen to work with Ogawa and help him build his new promotion from scratch.
In conclusion, the termination of Rossy Ogawa’s contract by Bushiroad has set off a chain of events that could reshape the wrestling landscape. WWE’s interest in working with either STARDOM or Ogawa’s new promotion has opened up possibilities for collaboration and talent exchange. While nothing is set in stone, wrestling fans can look forward to exciting developments in the near future.
