While WWE has released many talents and employees throughout the course of 2021, it appears the company has begun the process of signing people instead. Last night the WWE Universe saw the return of Samoa Joe to the black and gold brand of NXT. Now it appears WWE has hired two new employees to their ranks.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, WWE has recently hired George Carroll Jr. and John D’Amico to contracts with the company.
George Carroll Jr. is an interesting name as he was the Senior Talent Coordinator for Major League Wrestling and had been with them since 2019. He also worked for New Japan Pro Wrestling as Director of US Operations from 2016 to 2018.
Clearly, this is a great hire with a lot of experience in the industry. Johnson reports he’s been hired by WWE as a member of the NXT writing team and was present at last night’s show at the Capitol Wrestling Center.
As for John D’Amico, this is a re-hire by the company and will return to his previous role as Director and Production Management for WWE’s live events. This was a position that D’Amico was released from back in September of 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
D’Amico was a long-time employee who had been with the company since 1989, so it’s not surprising to find out now that WWE is back on the road in July that he’s back to oversee things for the company from now on.
