In the year 2024, WWE has broken its previous record by organizing an increased number of international pay-per-view spectacles. Countries, wherein these events were hosted include Canada, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Wales, France, Australia, Puerto Rico, amid others. Further, the wrestling entertainment company has marked its calendar for the Bash In Berlin pay-per-view spectacle, which is due to take place in Germany later this month.
The decision of WWE to host pay-per-view shows internationally can be attributed to the hefty site fees that countries are ready to shell out. This particular trend is not confined to foreign nations alone. Even cities within the US participate in bidding wars to secure the rights to host WWE events, thereby paving the way for substantial local economic development.
Italy was once again a venue for a WWE live show, specifically in Bologna, signifying the first WWE event in the European country since 2018. The previous WWE tour in Italy brought RAW, SmackDown, and ECW episodes live in Milan. This tour is notably remembered for the debut of Santino Marella.
Social media handle @hashtagPWN reported recently that WWE is exploring the idea of hosting a pay-per-view event in Italy next year. If true, this would go down in the history as the inaugural pay-per-view event held by WWE in Italy.
