WWE Friday Night SmackDown Viewership For 7/23 Down From Previous Week Despite John Cena Appearance

Not many people ended up seeing John Cena on WWE Friday Night SmackDown as they did from the previous week. Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics is reporting that the 7/23 episode of WWE’s brand of blue on FOX was down 7% in viewership in comparison to the program’s first show back with a live audience. The episode received an average of 2,137,000 viewers and the cherished 18-49 demographic had a 17% decrease in viewership coming in with a final number of 709,000.

WWE Smackdown last week Friday on Fox was watched by 2,137,000 viewers on average, down 7% from last week's return to touring.

709,000 viewers were aged 18-49 (about a 0.55 rating), 17% lower than last week.

The program itself had Roman Reigns reject Cena’s SummerSlam challenge for the Universal Title. It also had Reigns accept Finn Balor’s bid for the belt as well as the latter receiving a clean victory against Sami Zayn. In addition to that, Edge brawled it out with Seth Rollins and Toni Storm debuted in victory against Zelina Vega.
