WWE has responded to the amended plagiarism lawsuit filed against them and AEW.
As we previously reported here on eWn, Anthony Duane Wilson’s lawsuit against WWE and AEW, alleging “plagiarism, market damages, product damages, personal damages, and financial damages” was dismissed in November 2023 after neither company was served with the suit.
The lawsuit was dismissed without prejudice, meaning it could be refiled.
Wilson refiled the case this past January, but due to his incarceration, he requested the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio on April 10 to halt the case.
Pwinsider is reporting that WWE filed its response to the lawsuit on May 3 in the United States District Court, Northern District of Ohio, Youngstown.
In its response, WWE requested the dismissal of all Wilson’s claims, citing a lack of legitimate claims under state law, and denied all allegations.
Last month, Wilson requested that his lawsuit against the two United States wrestling companies be halted due to his imprisonment in Trumbull County Jail for throwing a milk carton containing urine at a corrections officer.
After the incident, Wilson was released from jail, but his bond was revoked. He is awaiting sentencing and could face up to a year in prison.
