It appears that plans have been changed by WWE officials for lucha star El Hijo del Fantasma.
On Wednesday’s episode of NXT, there was promo sown to hype his television debut by competing in an Interim NXT Cruiserweight Title Tournament match.
Fantasma, formerly known as King Cuerno, was wearing a mask in the promo. Dave Meltzer provided an update on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio.
The original plans called for him to work in WWE without a mask. As of this writing, there’s no word yet on why they went ahead with the mask.
Fantasma signed with WWE in August 2019 but suffered a knee injury and was placed on the sidelines. He did make his in-ring debut back in February by teaming with Raul Mendoza at an NXT live event.
He was not wearing the mask while working matches under the WWE NXT banner.
