Christian Cage, a prominent figure in wrestling, strives to secure trademark rights for his former nickname.
In the calendar year 2021, Cage astounded fans with his AEW debut at the Revolution pay-per-view event. Subsequently, he went on to ink a long-term deal with Tony Khan’s organization.
Ever since his association with AEW, Cage has made significant strides, clinching the TNT Championship on numerous occasions and becoming a celebrated figure on the small screen.
Shortly after his induction into AEW, Cage pursued trademark rights for his ring name, “Christian Cage.” His original name, “Christian” is off-limits since WWE maintains rights to it. However, he still retains rights for merchandising and entertainment purposes under the name “Christian Cage”.
The well-established Wrestling Observer Newsletter revealed that Cage has placed a claim for the rights to “Captain Charisma” at the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Despite his efforts, a roadblock has emerged as WWE challenges his claim. The future course of this matter hangs in the balance, as it remains unclear whether Cage will appeal against WWE’s objection.
