The WWE recently staged an NXT taping at the 2300 Arena, also known by some wrestling fans as the ECW Arena. The event was met with tremendous success. The wrestling media titan intended to further exploit this popularity, a plan foiled by their industry rivals, AEW.
As has been earlier unveiled by eWn, AEW has plans to create a spectacular presence at the Hammerstein Ballroom for their ROH Final Battle 2024 event happening on December 20. The promotion company, not limiting its ambition, also aims to host an episode of Collision at the same venue the next day, December 21.
However, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE’s NXT division made attempts to lock down a date for their own event at the Hammerstein Ballroom, hoping to replicate and even surpass their 2300 Arena success.
Their proposed date, regrettably, was uncomfortably close to the events already scheduled by AEW.
It’s worth mentioning that ECW, during their active years, had successfully held multiple events at the Hammerstein Ballroom. This was a trend WWE continued with its One Night Stand pay-per-view shows in the year 2005 and 2006.
