WWE intends to introduce a new level of seriousness to its programming, with sports-centric themes already being incorporated.
Pwinsider reports that this week has seen talks at WWE’s HQ in Stamford as to how WWE can share a sense of realism typically found in more legitimate sports shows. The report states,
“We are told that the talk at Raw yesterday and at WWE HQ today is that the company will be incorporating some sports-centric elements into the programming. Cody Rhodes being interviewed on Raw “earlier today” complete with the clock listing the time was an example given of trying to root the product in stronger realism. We are told that interviews will reflect this as well.”
WWE’s production has already seen changes, with certain segments being set in more public settings, such as the Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate segment in a coffee shop.
Many have attributed this change to the departure of Kevin Dunn. The former WWE executive who’d been with WWE from before WrestleMania 1 departed last month.

WWE Embraces Sports-Centric Themes to Enhance Realism in Programming
In an effort to bring a new level of seriousness and realism to its programming, WWE has recently been incorporating sports-centric elements into its shows. The company aims to create a sense of authenticity typically found in more legitimate sports shows, according to reports from Pwinsider.
Discussions have taken place at WWE’s headquarters in Stamford, where executives have explored ways to infuse the product with stronger realism. One example given was Cody Rhodes being interviewed on Raw, complete with a clock displaying the time. This move is intended to root the product in a more authentic experience. Interviews will also reflect this new approach.
WWE’s production has already undergone changes to align with the sports-centric theme. Certain segments have been set in more public settings, such as the recent Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate segment in a coffee shop. These changes aim to create a more immersive experience for viewers and enhance the overall realism of the product.
Many have speculated that this shift in approach is a result of the departure of Kevin Dunn, a former WWE executive who had been with the company since before WrestleMania 1. With his exit last month, WWE may be seizing the opportunity to explore new creative directions and experiment with different storytelling techniques.
By incorporating sports-centric elements and embracing a more realistic approach, WWE hopes to captivate audiences and attract fans who appreciate the authenticity and intensity of sports programming. This move aligns with the company’s ongoing efforts to evolve and adapt to the changing landscape of entertainment.
Fans can expect to see more sports-centric themes and elements integrated into WWE’s programming in the coming months. As the company continues to explore new ways to engage viewers, it remains committed to delivering thrilling and immersive experiences that blur the line between sports and entertainment.
