WWE Alters Taping Schedule Yet Again In Name Of Performer Safety

Vince McMahon has seemingly changed his mind once again. Just last week, WWE’s plan was to tape weeks and weeks of shows, all the way to Money in the Bank. This would allow wrestlers to return home to their families and keep them as safe as possible, mirroring similar strategies deployed by IMPACT and AEW.
Then, all of a sudden, the company announced that they’d be running live shows every week from the Performance Center, a move that baffled many outside the company. Since there’s a recommended two week quarantine period for exposed persons if they want to lessen the risk to their family, it would mean that wrestlers could never go home if they wanted to keep pregnant wives and older relatives out of harm’s way.
Now, WWE has come to a middle ground of sorts, although it’s still not the best-case scenario the company passed up on last week. Pro Wrestling Sheet has confirmed that RAW, SmackDown and NXT will go from Live to Taped starting on April 25, with the company taping two shows per night. This is currently scheduled out until July 8. It still means the performers can’t take the recommended quarantine period, but it does mean that they have some time off between tapings and that they’ll be taking fewer flights. In this time of global pandemic, the less travel the better, although there’s every possibility that this plan will change again in the coming weeks.
